I. Overview
Governance in Wagmi DAO is key for processing proposals related to protocol amendments, such as adding new elements or modifying existing ones. Proposals usually begin as discussions in our forum’s Idea Discussion Section before evolving into [RFC] Requests For Comment Threads in the RFC section for further discussion and refinement.
1. Request for Comment (RFC) Thread:
The RFC thread matures an idea into a proposal, allowing the community to scrutinize or reject topics. Once an idea is deemed worthy, it becomes a Wagmi Improvement Proposal General Proposal.
2. Proposal Initiation:
Before initiating an RFC, it is advisable to discuss informally with community members on Discord or the Idea Discussion category to garner support. Proposals and RFCs require approval from mods/core contributors to be visible on the forum to maintain structure and avoid spam. If your proposal is not visible, contact a Contributor or Moderator.
3. Proposal Posting:
If your idea is refined and clear, post it as an RFC or, in certain cases, directly as an WIP, adhering to a pre-defined layout.
II. Governance Process
1. Initiate Discussion:
Start informally on Discord or the Idea Discussion Forum. Once substantial support is evident, initiate an [RFC] thread for formal discussions. Moderators will help categorize the idea properly.
2. Post [RFC] Thread:
Submit concise and evolving RFCs following the provided layout. Actively engage in discussions, refining your proposal based on feedback and summarizing adjustments periodically.
3. Maturation of RFC:
If the community broadly accepts an RFC after in-depth discussions and refinements, it transitions to an WIP, posted under the Governance Proposal Category, following a review for format adherence.
4. Develop WIP:
A well-defined and widely accepted RFC may become an WIP, linked to its supporting RFC for reference. Most WIPs require preceding RFCs, and moderators will oversee transitions and format consistency.
5. Snapshot Vote:
WIPs should be discussed for at least 3 days before a Snapshot Vote is initiated, with at least a 2-day voting period. Snapshot details should align with the WIP, and link back to it.
6. Voting & Implementation:
Votes are cast on Snapshot, based on the held balance of qualifying tokens. A successful WIP with adequate quorum and adherence to format is implemented by core contributors, while failed or inadequate votes are invalidated.
7. Proposal Archival:
Successfully voted proposals are archived in the “Voted Proposal” forum section, while amendments to quorum and other processes can be proposed and voted upon as needed.
III. Templates
Request For Comment [RFC] Template:
